Backerkit is up and running!
4 months ago – Mon, Aug 10, 2020 at 06:44:41 PM

Hey everyone!

Happy Saturday! We just sent out the first set of Backerkit surveys to a random 5% of you -- Backerkit calls this a "smoke test" to make sure the surveys are set up properly and that all of the information being provided is clear and not confusing to you once inside. They suggest giving that smoke test 24 hours to spotlight anything that needs fixing, but if no flags are raised, then the rest will go out to the remaining 95% of you!

Frankly, there aren't many questions for the majority of pledge tiers, so this is mostly collecting your shipping address and factoring any extra stuff you might want to add to your package.

So how does this Backerkit thing work exactly?

If you haven't used Backerkit before, don't worry -- it may sound complicated at first, but it's really super-simple.

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. You will be sent a unique Backerkit link to whatever email address you use to log into Kickstarter. If you need to use a different email address, you can change that contact information once you've first logged into the account. (If you need that initial link sent to a different email address to begin with, contact us and we'll forward it to you there manually.)

When you receive the email notification, click the survey link to respond. This link will be unique to you and your pledge details! So don't lose it, and only share it with that in mind. (You can bookmark that page for future fast-access once you're in.)

There, you will be able to answer any questions we've sent about your reward preferences, provide your shipping information, and purchase any add-on items you'd like included in your shipment.

You will be able to modify your answers at any time, up until two key deadlines:

  • 1) Order Cut-off, which is when Backerkit will actually charge your credit card for any additional items and shipping balances due. This will happen in early October so that we know how much final stuff to produce. If Backerkit has trouble charging your cards, they will notify you to fix this information as soon as you can. Your package won't ship if there is any open balance due on your pledge.
  • 2) Lock-down, which is when we will lock all shipping addresses for final fulfillment processing.  You will have until that date to finalize any changes to the shipping address. So if you aren't sure where you might be in November today, you'll be able to change your answers up until that final date. This will happen in late October about a week before we start shipping.

We will make a very clear announcements to everyone ahead of each of those dates.

Again, you don't have to decide on everything as soon as you get the survey link, but it would help us a lot to know how much we should anticipate producing/shipping as soon as possible.  So please consider answering sooner than later...!

Don't worry if you haven't gotten your survey link yet -- it might take 24-48 hours to reach you, but please watch for an email from "s.backerkit.com" on behalf of us (Neurobellum Productions). If you haven't received it by, say, Tuesday or Wednesday, feel free to message us and we'll look up the link for you directly.

In the meantime, you can access the Paris 2119 project page on Backerkit at https://paris-2119.backerkit.com. (But visiting that URL directly won't contain your unique backer information... you will need your unique link for that...)

Hope that's not too confusing, and hope you're as excited as we are! :D As always -- THANK YOU!!!

Backerkit setup is complete and in review... stand by...

Hi everyone!

Hope you've all been having a wonderful week. We've been super-busy getting our shipping matrix worked out with both of our fulfillment warehouses (domestic and international), and making sure that it all makes sense and adds up correctly within Backerkit.  Good news: it seems to work out great! Everything is calculated based on individual item weights, and we've entered weight-based shipping rates for practically everywhere from the better of our two warehouse origins. So you should feel free to tack on any extras in Backerkit with a fair and sane amounts applied the final total shipping price. Most areas are pretty reasonable (imho), certainly compared to if we were shipping from within the US. Some places are still a bit pricey (sorry Brazil), but we're doing the best we can with things that are mostly out of our hands.

Backerkit is reviewing everything now, and they say we should get clearance in 2 business days. As soon as we do, we'll send out the surveys with your individual pledge management links. So watch your email inboxes and this update forum for a heads-up on that soon!

In the meantime, wanna sneak peek at something super-cool in the works...? ;)

...stay tuned...

Okay, what's next?

Hi Everyone!

After a reasonable amount of celebration and a good night's sleep, we woke up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to tackle the HUGE AMOUNT OF WORK AND COORDINATION NOW REQUIRED TO DELIVER ON THIS FANTASTIC CAMPAIGN. Even after a number of earlier successes under our belts, we nearly forgot how much work it is AFTER a campaign ends...

But we've got our plans in place and expect things to run pretty smoothly to the finish line. No real surprises so far, and nothing seems complicated enough to cause any major hurdles.

So. What's next?

If you're experienced with Kickstarter, you probably already know the drill: They'll start running your credit cards to collect your pledges immediately. In fact, it seems like they've already collected from the vast majority of you! At the moment, only 47 pledges are running into errors processing, and Kickstarter has probably already messaged those backers to please correct their payment information as soon as possible. They'll give everyone 7 days to get it worked out, at which point any payments that continue to fail will be dropped entirely. If you're one of those unfortunate backers... sorry!

But you'll still have a chance to jump back in later, as we'll be launching the Backerkit page next week. It will contain all of your pledge information, all of the add-on items available to supplement your pledge package, and ultimately will be where you will provide shipping information and pay for postage. We're working with our Int'l fulfillment partner now to get our shipping rates figured out shortly. So stay tuned for news on how all of that will roll out sometime next week.

We plan to have the book ready to send to the printer by the end of next week. The coins will start minting next week now that we know how many we'll need. We'll start working with Zep, Dominique, and the team of guest artists on the Art Book right away. There shouldn't be any reason why everything isn't comfortably in our warehouse by the end of October, so we should be comfortably on track to have the majority of your packages delivered by Thanksgiving! (International backers might take a little longer, but we'll see if we can estimate that difference with our UK fulfillment provider too so you can know what to expect.)

We also wish to send everyone a short survey about what brought you to the campaign and your experience as a backer during the campaign itself. This is not the official "backer survey" where you specify your shipping info; that will still come later through Backerkit. This is just some questions we'd love to ask you in order to evaluate what we can do better moving forward with future campaigns. (Yes, there will be future campaigns... relatively soon, in fact...)

As a token of our thanks for filling out this survey, we're offering $.50 in Backerkit credit for everyone who takes the time to reply. Sure, that might not sound like much, but it'll help lower your shipping costs a tad, and that's something, right?

Stay tuned for more news on that interest survey in the next few days.

In the meantime, enjoy your weekend! Stay safe, have fun, and we'll have more to share soon!

thank you.
